How does it work?

Call us if you or someone you know, who is experiencing homelessness, want support!

If you are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless and need support, please contact our Helpline. We would also like to invite citizens, who have identified homeless people actively looking for opportunities to improve their lives, to call us, too!

Irregardless of the relationship you have with that individual, you can change their lives with a single call to our Helpline!

Current Communication Barriers

The last two things people experiencing homelessness lose in the street are hope and their mobile phones, and this is due to the great importance of being connected to society.

The most frequent communication barriers for a person experiencing homelessness are

  1. Psychological: the need to communicate with others;

  2. Technological: lack of opportunities and/or speed to attain them;

  3. Organizational: lack of a structural framework;

  4. Cultural: and language either because it is not their mother tongue or there’s a lack of tact when communicating due to reduced human contact.

When a homeless experiences homelessness loses his or her mobile, another citizen can give them hope by connecting them to our Helpline; and when a homeless person has a mobile and is losing hope, s/he can call us, too.

*Due to a lack of research, there is little to no structured data on mobile connectivity and homelessness. Thanks to Homeless Entrepreneur’s research, we have identified that lack of data access and connectivity outweighs a lack of devices. Even when a mobile phone is stolen or lost, it tends to get replaced quite quickly.

Connectivity: Data & Devices

Connectivity can literally save lives and having another individual in times of crisis can be the difference between nose diving into depression or worse and the opportunity to turn a crisis into an opportunity that may turn the individual’s life around in a positive way.

Our Helpline also addresses 3 of the biggest concerns homeless people have regarding communication 1) taking care of their health 2) improving their education and 3) finding work so they can access housing again.

Corporations & Individuals

Corporations, like mobile network operators and their stakeholders, that generate profit have the opportunity to invest in their community by facilitating communication access through our Helpline, which will ultimately empower people out of poverty by giving them the initial push over a seemingly impossible hurdle that will allow them to be better connected to a support network.

Individuals with discretionary income also have the opportunity to support local citizens experiencing homelessness, who want to become active, working citizens, by ensuring them with the connection needed to participate in society.

Local NGOs

Local NGOs have the opportunity to participate by inviting beneficiaries of theirs to join Homeless Entrepreneur’s community. All of their beneficiaries are welcomed to contact our Homeless Helpline.

The local NGO beneficiaries who contact our Helpline are eligible to participate in our Voices Program, which focuses on communication and community.

Local Governing Bodies

Local governing bodies have the opportunity to participate by inviting social service beneficiaries of theirs to join Homeless Entrepreneur’s community. All of their beneficiaries are welcomed to contact our Helpline.

The social service beneficiaries who contact our Helpline are eligible to participate in our Voices Program (HV), which focuses on connection and community. Collaborating with HV reduces administration costs, beneficiary and social worker stress and speeds up the process of ending homelessness in their city.
