Sculpture: THE UnForeSeen Variable

€0.00

(Raising awareness to end global homelessness while promoting the climate positive future we need) The “UnForSeen Variable” sculpture has been created by international artist, Veronica de Nogales, in collaboration with Homeless Entrepreneur to raise awareness on global precarity and climate change to create positive social impact.

It aims to inspire public-private collaboration that empowers people made of potential out of homelessness. These individuals, who are the most vulnerable to forced displacement as a direct consequence of the climate crisis, must be included in the design of improving the state of the world. Giving them a voice and presence through this artwork will ultimately speed up the process of becoming active, working citizens again with a home.

Problem(s)

#Homelessness In 2021, the World Economic Forum reported that 150 million people were homeless worldwide.

#Climate According to Zurich Insurance Group, 1) An annual average of 21.5 million people were forcibly displaced each year by weather-related events – such as floods, storms, wildfires and droughts – between 2008 and 2016, according to the International Displacement Monitoring Centre and 2) there could be 1.2 billion climate refugees by 2050.

Solution

Inspire and activate the global labor force through actions that are beyond incredible. According to Wikipedia (2017), there are approximately 3.4 billion people, who could be part of the support network ending homelessness and providing support to individuals displaced by extreme weather

Partnership Opportunity

Fundraising and volunteering for a common cause on such a scale as a group effort will generate stronger public-private-civic partnerships amongst their representatives and stakeholders, which will ultimately reduce the cost of ending homelessness and damage caused due to climate change while increasing the positive impact on society.

How we do it

Three years after coming up with the concept of The UnForeSeen Sculpture, we have finally been granted the opportunity to have it inaugurated on the first day of the World Economic Forum (Davos, Switzerland): January 20th at Arkadenplatz (Kulturplatz), Promenade 58C, Davos Platz (Davos, Switzerland) at 15h.

We are proud to share that the sculpture will be inaugurate at an event led by Climate Davos Hub.

1) Climate Awareness Art: 5 days of giving a voice and presence to 150 million homeless people through a sculpture for the very first time at the World Economic Forum while highlighting the obstacles and opportunities related to the cost of living crisis, climate change, homelessness, inflation and global precarity.

2) Challenging Status Quo: Communicating with the WEF participants walking through the snowy streets as well as the general public following news about Davos via television and social media to raise funds and build strategic partnerships that will lead to climate and social action and ultimately positive, social change for more than 13,000 people made of potential experiencing homelessness while promoting the climate positive future we need.

We’d like to invite everyone who is in Davos to interact with our sculpture however they would like to i.e. mediating next to it; taking a picture next to it and spreading the word in their professional and social network; or speaking with us about how we can collaborate to address homelessness more efficiently.

3) Clear Proposal: Homeless Entrepreneur’s programs (Helpline, Voices and the HELP Program) are designed to empower people made of potential out of poverty while enhancing opportunities for individuals affected by climate change to decrease the risks of forced migration. We will be raising funds through this sculpture to support future beneficiaries as well as build an international support network for them.

FAQs

Q: Can you tell us, with your words, WHY was this sculpture created?

A: The UnForeSeen Variable sculpture was created to give 150 million people made of potential experiencing homelessness in the world a voice and presence at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. Our sculpture is a conscious act of inclusion to encourage states and corporations to incorporate the homeless community into the design of events that should be celebrated by all of its citizens. The fundraising goal of the sculpture aims to empower +13,000 people made of potential out of homelessness through our main programs: Helpline, Voices and HELP.

*Homeless Entrepreneur has been giving the homeless community a voice at the World Economic Forum since 2018 and working towards the opportunity of giving them a presence, which is what the sculpture will do: one cubic meter might seem insignificant to some, but it means the world to those looking for solutions to become active, working citizens again.
