Psych medic with film in mind, award-winning filmmaker (Dublin, Chicago, Dubai, San Francisco, London), Steve Hunyi, growing up, my safe place TV was black and white, overweight like Oliver Hardy and not those anorectic anodyne flat screens of today.
I am as guilty as you. I walk by the homeless every day, and I feel uncomfortable as I determinedly look away. Unfortunately we too often look down on the homeless as garbage.
Garbage Rex is a cry of anger at this injustice. There is no simple answer to the homeless problem. There is no excuse to walk on by without a care.
Familiarity breeds indifference; their difference breeds contempt.
Our aim is to inspire individuals affected by homelessness and their future support network through our commitment to ending homelessness, so we can connect the two groups faster and ultimately speed up the process of ending their state of homelessness.
Garbage Rex X Homeless Entrepreneur
What have we done to tackle the homelessness? We hired a homeless person, part of the program HELP of the foundation Homeless Entrepreneur and helped take him off the street and also used real homeless people on set as extras.
Logline
A former homeless man, now a documentary filmmaker, delves into the harsh realities of life on the streets, uncovering dark secrets and forming unexpected alliances as he strives to give a voice to the voiceless.
We are looking for some extra funds to cover some post-production costs such as color grading (600 eur) and distribution costs such as festival fees/distribution agency fee, premiere events costs (1000 eur).
We will give the donors a copy of the full movie, a movie poster signed, the merchandising, film credits on the screen, the invitation to the movie premiere and the possibility to receive contents/material of the film (BTS material, photos, etc.)
