"The Shelter of Alex and Marta"

Some people consider the bed the best invention in the world. Well, I think they happen.

But it is essential even in the flat, with cold, sharing it with a beer, talking about the human and the spiritual, without talking about pain and scarcely any hope.

Even so there is that inherent dignity to the human being, a mattress in front of the social security, in a symbolic way, that, although it appeals to those who have gone through similar situations, it gladdens the view by its aesthetic and colorful.

But the story of this photo is not about color and aesthetics, shapes and beauty.

Alex and Marta would like to create a family, in a home, give up alcohol as a form of escape and smile more. Feeling protected, not suffering verbal aggressions and ignominiously tolerating how to look for life every day.

They have stung many doors and there is no satisfactory answer. They make crafts, he was a warehouse worker, she looked after the elderly. After an eviction, everything went to hell. The spiral into which they entered, of debt and mimetic depression, ended in this, life on the street and alcoholism. They want to heal and remedy all their pains. For this they require many resources that they do not have now. Entering a hospital and then returning to the street is not a remedy.

"The shelter of Sonia, Jordi and Pablo"

It's twelve o'clock and you're still huddled in your bags. It matters little the hustle and bustle that you feel as children and adults who take advantage of Sunday to play in the park, that reason that is being lost with the technological involution.

For you there is still a long day, many meters to travel, a lot of shame asking for charity, some wine or beer to throw to the body, to warm it up, to escape a little from this damn reality.

Today Sunday, what happens so many people around here, you need that some of you are always watching your shelter, lest some funny person to disassemble the chiringuito. Within what fits, there you are well, you say. With that little you settle yourselves already, abandoned the faith in the society.

But in the human spirit, hope is inherent. The hope of a home, a simple roof and a kitchenette, a place of reference, although, with much pain, you must separate. That almost everyone has, less thousands, here in Barcelona, ere in the center, this city so tourist, beautiful and cosmopolitan.

You tell me that you are grateful for my interest and that of the organization with which I collaborate. That you do not want charity, that you want to sing, write, work, eat twice a day for your merits and that we all have some talent, although not all of us know it.

"The Shelter of Rubén"

Hi Ruben. I've come to see you and you're not here. It came to my head that time we spoke, I told you that I felt bad for what you were going through and you stayed a few but endless seconds silent, you looked at me and you told me that you did not have to make the bed anymore.

I wanted to see you because I wanted to tell you something that is difficult for me to comment out here, in the jungle, as you say. I want to say it to someone with a clean look, yours. Out here, good looks, solidarity, but basically everything is measured in euros, is inevitably associated with employment and dedication (as if you do not dedicate yourself to things, being unemployed!), Mixed success and merit , confused value with triumph.

Jopa! Well, it grieves me a lot not to see you. Not for you, but for me. I know that you have already decided your life, and with that conviction, so intimate, you have been able to clean your eyes, examine yourself, move on until the body endures, without hesitation, accepting, assuming your new role. I am at the limit and I can go back to sleep next to you.

I would give everything I have to reach the serenity that you already possess. That's what I wanted to talk to you about. That serenity can become greater by having a real home, because we are conducting a campaign to get people out of the street.
